CEDAR BLUFF - After dropping their first match to Class 5A Albertville, the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers rebounded to defeat Douglas in volleyball action on Tuesday.
Cedar Bluff (11-13) lost to Albertville 25-12, 25-9. The Tigers claimed a 25-23, 25-23 win over Douglas.
Against Albertville, Destiny Humphrey had eight assists and two kills. Hannah Leach added three kills and two aces. Maci Hughes posted a pair of kills and a pair of digs. Lauren Barnett came away with three digs and two aces.
Tabitha Combs had two digs and a kill. Candria Dupree had two kills and Tanessa Fife finished with a kill and an ace.
In the win over Douglas, Fife led the Tigers with nine kills and added an ace, an assist and a dig. Leach had five kills, two aces, two digs and an assist. Humphrey came away with 13 assists, three kills and three aces.
Dupree had nine digs, five kills and an assist. Barnett added seven digs and two aces. Hughes had five digs. Tabitha Combs came away with three kills and an assist. Brooke Wood finished with two digs.
Cedar Bluff travels to Westbrook Christian on Thursday in a tri-match with Coosa Christian.
Gaylesville comes back to defeat JCA
JACKSONVILLE - Amber Moseley posted 15 digs, 13 kills, five aces and a block to lead Gaylesville to a come-from-behind win at Jacksonville Christian on Tuesday. The scores were 19-25, 14-25, 25-19, 25-23 and 15-12.
Krista Nichols added 14 digs, nine kills, five aces, three blocks and two assists for the Trojans. Katie Lemons had 11 assists, seven digs, a kill and an ace. Kayla Nichols came away with eight assists and four digs. Kaitlyn Hammett had six digs, four kills and two aces.
Amberly LaFavor posted seven digs and two kills. Courtney Wheeling had four digs and an ace. Julie Bradley also came away with four digs. Hannah Beason finished with a kill and a dig.
Gaylesville travels to Gadsden City to play in a tri-match with Ohatchee on Thursday.
