All seven of Compton’s solo efforts were for losses. The state record for tackles in a game is 36, set back in 1996 by Hamilton’s Andy Stidham.
David Sanford led the Trojan offense with 81 yards rushing on four carries and three touchdowns. Justin Jennings had 35 yards on three carries and two scores. John David Jennings ran for 72 yards on five carries with a touchdown. Dylan Cavin rushed for 42 yards on five carries and a score.
Gaylesville quarterback Luke Murphy completed 3 of 5 passes for 55 yards.
Michael Zuber recorded nine tackles for the Trojans (1-2, 1-1). Bradley Williams and Brian Sanford had eight stops apiece against the winless Panthers.
Gaylesville hosts Skyline in another Class 1A, Region 6 contest on Friday.
