The Lady Wildcats defeated Fyffe 25-13, 25-11, then lost to Springville 13-25, 25-16, 12-15. Sand Rock rebounded to earn a 25-23, 25-17 win over Fort Payne in the quarterfinals and then beat Lee-Huntsville in the semifinals 25-18, 25-21.
In the finals, the Wildcats claimed a 25-12, 25-16 victory over Madison County.
Logan Smith posted 99 assists, 22 aces, 20 digs, six kills, and eight blocks. Jennifer Campbell added 45 kills, 20 digs, four aces and five blocks. Karlie Anderson had 31 kills, nine blocks and seven aces. Megan Battles came away with 28 kills, 12 blocks, 15 digs and four aces. Gena Farmer had 17 digs, four blocks, five assists and three kills.
Carrie Robertson managed 20 kills, six assists, four blocks and six aces. Kayla Mashburn and Emily Ozment finished with nine and six digs respectively.
Cedar Bluff splits at Brooks Tournament
KILLEN – Cedar Bluff claimed a win over Fayette Academy, but lost to Rogers in the Brooks Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.
In the 23-25, 25-23, 15-12 win over Fayette Academy, Hannah Leach posted seven kills, an ace and a dig for Cedar Bluff (17-22). Destiny Humphrey added 12 assists, three kills, an ace and a dig. Audrianna Hargitt had six kills and two aces. Candria Dupree came away with seven digs, three kills and two aces. Lauren Barnett had four aces, an assist and a dig.
Tanessa Fife finished with a pair of digs, a pair of assists, a kill and an ace. Brooke Wood contributed a kill and an assist.
In the 17-25, 25-20, 22-25 loss to Rogers, Leach had eight kills, two digs and an ace. Barnett added 10 digs, a kill and an ace. Hargitt posted seven kills, two aces, a block and a dig. Fife finished with five kills, three digs and an assist. Dupree had five kills and an assist. Humphrey contributed 16 assists and a dig.
Lady Warriors sweep Douglas, Fort Payne
CENTRE – Malorie Rosser combined for 16 kills and five blocks while Haley Highfield added 27 total assists to lead Cherokee County to a sweep of Douglas and Fort Payne on Thursday.
The Lady Warriors defeated Douglas 25-5, 25-10. Lauren Millsaps posted seven kills in that match.
Against Fort Payne, the Lady Warriors won 25-22, 25-12. Laura Rochester had four aces to aid in the win.
