ASHVILLE – Jennifer Campbell posted 22 digs, 18 kills, three aces and two blocks to lead Sand Rock to a sweep of Ashville and Springville in volleyball action Monday.

Sand Rock (27-5) defeated Ashville 25-16, 14-25, 15-12 and beat Springville 24-26, 25-15, 15-7.

Karlie Anderson added 13 kills, six aces and four blocks for the Wildcats. Carrie Robertson had 11 kills and three blocks. Gena Farmer came away with 18 digs, six kills and two blocks. Kayla Mashburn had 11 digs. Megan Battles had managed nine digs, five kills, five aces and two blocks. Logan Smith finished with 44 assists, 13 digs and five aces. Emily Ozment had four digs and an ace.

Sand Rock travels to Fyffe on Tuesday.

Cherokee County claims Gadsden City Tournament

GADSDEN – Haley Highfield posted 65 total assists and eight aces and Malorie Rosser added 29 total kills, nine blocks and six aces to lead Cherokee County to a Gadsden City Volleyball Tournament title Saturday.

The Lady Warriors went 2-1 in pool play. They then beat Gadsden City in the semifinals and Albertville in the finals. The scores against Albertville were 20-25, 25-19 and 15-7.

Lauren Millsaps added 25 kills and six blocks for the Warriors. Laura Rochester posted 37 digs and eight aces.

“Even though we started out slow, the girls fought out of pool play and went on to win the tournament,” Cherokee County coach Amy Barnes said. “Our serving was a strong aspect of our play, since our offense was kind of slow. I am so proud of these girls, and each one did something to help us win.”

Cherokee County plays at Ashville in a tri-match with Guntersville on Tuesday.

Gaylesville goes 1-2 in Gadsden City Tournament

GADSDEN – On Saturday, Gaylesville defeated Westbrook Christian, but fell to St. Clair County and Gadsden City in the Gadsden City Volleyball Tournament.

In the 25-20, 25-17 victory over Westbrook Christian, Amber Moseley led the way with nine kills and seven digs. Krista Nichols added eight digs, four kills and three aces. Katie Lemons had six assists, five aces and three digs. Kayla Nichols posted six assists and four digs. Courtney Wheeling had eight digs and an ace.

Amberly LaFavor came away with five digs and an assist. Hannah Beason had three kills and two digs. Kaitlyn Hammett finished with four digs.

In the loss to St. Clair County (11-25, 25-20, 7-15), Moseley had seven digs, five kills, two blocks and an ace. Krista Nichols posted eight digs and three kills. Lemons had seven assists, five digs, a kill and an ace.

Kayla Nichols came away with three digs and two assists. LaFavor had three digs, a kill and an assist. Beason had two blocks, a kill and a dig. Wheeling managed two digs and two aces. Hammett added a dig.

Against Gadsden City (17-25, 11-25), Moseley had three kills and three digs. Lemons had four assists and an ace. Wheeling posted two digs. Krista Nichols had a kill and a dig. LaFavor added an ace and Hammett had a dig.

Gaylesville travels to Sylvania on Tuesday.
