Crane completed 10 of 16 passes for 299 yards and five touchdowns (68, 55, 22, 25, 72 yards) to lead Cedar Bluff to a 49-24 victory at Valley Head. Meanwhile, Murphy led the Trojan defense with 12 tackles, including four for losses, in a 32-0 win over Skyline. He also had 200 yards in offense and had a hand in two touchdowns.
Crane garnered a mention by the ASWA for it’s weekly Player of the Week offensive selections, while Murphy was honored with a spot on this week’s defensive honor roll.
In other statewide happenings, after gaining 259 yards against Ohatchee in Week 3, Randolph County senior Dwayne Childs came away with 389 yards against Ranburne in a 43-36 win over Class 2A Region 5 rival to earn this week’s honor, as chosen by a panel of ASWA votes.
The two finalists were Pierre Warren of Marbury and Anthony Gardner of Pleasant Grove. Warren, a senior, rushed for 242 yards and four touchdowns in a 26-18 win over Beulah. He added 41 yards receiving and two kickoff returns for 69 yards. Gardner, a junior, was another all-purpose threat – with 274 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 28 carries against John Carroll, added four receptions for 58 yards and two kickoff returns for 65 yards for 397 all-purpose yards.
The ASWA defensive/special teams player of the week was Chase Williams of Boaz, who had a school-record 27 tackles, four tackles for loss, two hurries, two sacks and caused a fumble in a 28-7 win over Scottsboro in a Class 5A Region 7 win.
The two finalists were Quan Tolbert of Geneva and Jake Holland of Pelham. Tolbert blocked a punt and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown, had a fumble return of 64 yards, a 35-yard interception return and had four tackles and a pass break-up in the Panthers' 33-7 win over Dale County. Holland, a senior defensive end, was credited with 27 tackles in the Panthers’ 38-37 triple-overtime win against Class 6A No. 4 Vestavia Hills.
The players of the week were chosen by a panel of ASWA voters from 77 nominations submitted by members in Albertville, Anniston, Atmore, Birmingham, Centre, Cullman, Florence, Fort Payne, Gardendale, Gadsden, Graysville, Hartselle, Hanceville, Mobile, Montgomery, Oneonta, Opelika , Rainsville, and Tuscaloosa.

Trent Williams, Phillps: Threw for 278 yards and four touchdown passes on 20 of 28 passing and ran for another in a 62-20 win against Tharptown.
Desmond Warren, Houston County: Accounted for six touchdowns, four passing and two rushing, in Houston County's 62-20 rout of Barbour County. Warren was 16-of-27 passing for 195 yards with four scores and rushed for 65 yards on nine carries with 2 TDs.
Taylor Thrash, Fyffe: The senior running back carried eight times for 258 yards and three touchdowns (66, 73, 79) in a 47-0 victory over North Sand Mountain.
Demetric Price, Parker: Was 20 of 35 passing for 366 yards in a loss to Decatur.
JaQuail Rutledge, Bibb County: Rushed for 265 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries to lead the Choctaws to 48-7 victory against region-rival Calera.
Delrickus Rhoden, Walter Wellborn: Had 38 carries for 223 yards and all four of the Panthers touchdowns in their 24-18 home win against Pleasant Valley. It was Wellborn's first win of the season and their first under new coach Jeff Smith, who left Hueytown to return to his alma mater.
Eli Harris, Vinemont: Rushed for 255 yards – 225 in the first half with a 96-yard touchdown – and three touchdowns in a 33-0 win over rival Good Hope.
Trett Hardman, Fairview: The Aggies quarterback was 18-for-22 passing for 256 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-7 win over DAR. The senior also rushed for 47 yards on 15 carries.
Andrew Crane, Citronelle: Rushed for 143 yards on 18 carries, including a 51-yard TD, in a 29-7 victory over Faith Academy – just two days after the death of sophomore defensive lineman Josh Creagh in a car crash.
Chris Dukes, UMS-Wright: Carried 24 times for 290 yards and two TDs (46, 78) in a 45-17 victory over Clarke County.
Demont Buice, Gaston: Rushed seven times for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Gaston's 49-28 win over Spring Garden. It would be the last time the Clemson commitment would see the field this season, as he broke his ankle early in the second quarter.
Alex Mitchell, Brooks: Compiled 329 yards of total offense in a 40-0 rout of Lawrence County. Mitchell passed for 234 yards and one score, and rushed for 105 yards and one score as Brooks remained unbeaten.
Demetric Steward, Colbert County: Ran for 205 yards, scored the Indians’ touchdown in overtime and had a pair of 2-point conversion runs in a 23-22 win against previously undefeated Colbert Heights.

Tyree Roberts, Albertville: Carried a career-high 40 times for 176 yards and touchdowns of 2 and 12 yards in the muck at Attalla, leading Albertville to its first win over Etowah since 1981.
Daryl Norris, Fairhope: Completed 19 of 28 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-6 victory over Baldwin County.
Diamond Simmons, Hanceville: Simmons rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns (1, 24, 36) on 25 carries, as the Hanceville won for the first time, defeating J. B. Pennington, 39-13.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
Fred Carter, Gadsden City: Had 15 tackles, four sacks, and a fumble recovery for a 95-yard touchdown return in 28-0 win over Oxford. Teammate Dan Springs had 17 tackles, including 14 solo.
Jamarcus Nelson, Midfield: Had two interceptions with a 99 yard TD with three tackles in a 28-0 win over West Point
Logan Cain, Hartselle: Had two interceptions, one for a touchdown, in the No. 7 Tigers’ 27-14 win over Class 5A No. 2 Russellville.

J.V. McKinney, Cornerstone Christian: Had 168 return yards – with a long of 65 – in a 42-0 win over Lyman Ward.

Vincent Johnson, Theodore: The defensive back returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown, recovered a fumble to set up another TD and broke up a pass in a 35-18 victory over Blount.
Britt Owen, Houston Academy: The Raider senior earned 14 tackles, all in the first half, before pulled with the rest of the starters after the first series of the third quarter during HA's 41-14 rout of Samson.
Taylor Stephens, Pike Liberal Arts: Returned punts of 63 and 55 yards for touchdowns and had 44 yards rushing, including a 7-yard TD run, in the Patriots' 50-7 win over Glenwood.
Duncan McKinney, Florence: The junior made the most of his first-ever field goal, hitting from 22 yards with 9.1 seconds to play, lifting the Falcons to a 24-21 win against Huntsville.
