Sand Rock gets past Isabella, moves on to Class 2A volleyball semifinals

PELHAM – The Class 2A, No. 6 Sand Rock Lady Wildcats wasted little time in their first match Wednesday at the state volleyball tournament in Pelham. They swept past Isabella in three games, 25-14, 25-11 and 25-10.

With the win, Sand Rock (45-10) advanced to the Class 2A state semifinals, where they met Lexington (40-6) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Isabella’s season ends at 29-9.

Senior outside hitter Jennifer Campbell led the charge for Sand Rock. She posted 10 aces and nine kills. Junior setter Logan Smith contributed 24 assists and 11 digs. Karlie Anderson managed three blocks.

Isabella was led by Allison Mims’ three digs and two kills. Amber Wyatt also had a pair of kills and a block. Marlee Hays had two assists.
