Brian Johnson, superintendent, Cherokee County Schools, set he met with local EMA officials around noon today. Projects are that the weather system bringing the snow will arrive Thursday afternoon. Johnson said they plan to roll school buses and open the schools as usual and to dismiss at 11:30 a.m.
Johnson said they are particularly concerned about the low temperatures and travel problems caused by accumulation on bridges and roads. Therefore, they have decided to close schools for Friday.
Johnson said they opted to go ahead and make the call so parents, teachers and students can plan for the upcoming weather event
Fort Payne and DeKalb County (Ala.) classes and school activities are canceled both Thursday and Friday.
