Last Monday night’s Leesburg Town Hall meeting came to order with a little more on the docket than recent meetings.

The town hall was in need of a new bathroom. The one they had is now part of the new dentist office that is connected to the town hall building. Council member Brandy Pierce made a motion to allow H&H Contracting the job of building a new one for $4,906.78. Council member Ransum made the second and the rest was unanimous.

Also in the discussion was the local girls softball league. Their president Greg Parker was in attendance to represent them.

“There are about 15 teams in the area and they all use the Leesburg ball park. Our opening day is April 10 and there are a few things we need to get fixed,” said Parker.

“What can we do to help?” asked Mayor Ed Mackey.

“Well, there is a major drainage problem on the field. In fact last year we had to cancel a couple of games after it rained on account of it,” Parker said.

“We have sand and are willing to take a back-hoe up there and level off the field for you so you can have proper playing conditions,” said Mackey. “We are just glad that you all like to come up here and play at our field. It means a lot.”

Also, the girls’ league will be having a clean-up day on March 6. All are welcome to come out and support the teams by helping them clean up the fields they’ll be playing on.
