Looking for a new or used car or truck? Not sure yet?

Want to car shop in your pajamas or on a stormy day or at 3 a.m.?

Well now you have a virtual car lot available online where you can peruse the inventory of car dealers from around the region.

Oongawah Autos is the latest online venture of News Publishing Company, the parent company of the Cherokee County Herald. It joins our other Web products available through our Oongawah portal site, including the Oonga-wah Monster jobs page, Oongawah Marketplace business directory, Oonga-wah Neybor real estate database and Northwest Georgia Classifieds.

Oongawah Autos offers a searchable database — managed by vendor AutoConX — where you can search by vehicle make and model, by price, mileage or year.

It contains vehicles from 18 new and used auto dealers from Greater Rome, Cedartown, Summerville, Calhoun, LaFayette and Chickamauga.

There are even click-and-look categories that help cull the selections for you such as “Used Cars Under $10,000” or “Pickups Under $10,000” or per-haps you’re looking for a “Low-Mileage Vehicle.” If so, just click the link.

Click on “Just In” and you’ll see the latest vehicles added to the database. Inventory is updated daily.

“You can look at 18 car lots and more than 1,000 cars without driving a mile,” said NPCo new media consultant Will Raybon.

The Most Viewed section shows what vehicles are getting the most looks on the site.

On a recent day, the top nine were mostly late model SUVs, but bargain hunters were eyeing a 1994 pickup with a price tag under $2,000. On the higher end you can ogle a sleek 2010 Corvette Z16 or shiny black Jaguar XK8 convertible.

You don’t have to register to view the more than 1,000 vehicles in the da-tabase, but the free registration allows you to set up an account and save your searches.

So if you search for convertibles, for example, then you can save that search and it’s available to check for updates each time you sign on.

A coming-soon feature will allow registered users to post their own vehi-cles for sale on Oongawah Autos.

When you click on a specific vehicle, you discover a wealth of information on it. Like whether it’s new or used. The price. Mileage. Estimated gas mile-age and even the Vehicle Identification Number. If the VIN number is a link, clicking on it will get you a CARFAX report on the car’s history.

Plus there are photos galore. Many sellers post more than a dozen pic-tures of each of their cars inside and out.

Once you find a car you simply must have, you can click on Print Window Sticker so you can take it to the car seller or dealership and show them the car you want.

The database is a boon for sellers, too.

“The benefit to car dealers is they get their cars in one more outlet for the public to see,” said Raybon. “It gives sellers a constant flow of people to their virtual inventory.”

The goal as NPCo continues to develop our online offerings is to create more user-friendly features and interactive experiences to engage our read-ers and help our advertisers reach them.

If you’re in the business of selling cars and want to be included on Oonga-wah Autos, contact Raybon at WRaybon@NPCo.com or call 706-290-2282.

If you’re a potential car buyer — or just curious — click on the Oongawah Autos icon on the Cherokee County Herald web site home page.

You’ll find a thousand cars and trucks at your fingertips.
