GASTON – Cedar Bluff’s Lindsey Lambert did a little bit of everything for the Lady Tigers on Tuesday at Gaston.

The junior pitcher allowed just one earned run on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts in a 12-2 victory in Class 1A, Area 12 softball action.

Lambert also went 4 for 5 at the plate and drove in four runs for the Lady Tigers (10-9, 2-3).

Katie McGinnis went 3 for 3 with a triple, two RBI and three runs. Tabitha Combs was 3 for 5 with a triple. Mariah Brown went 2 for 5 and batted in one run. Kaitlyn Kilgro was 1 for 3 with two RBI and two runs.

Cedar Bluff hosts Collinsville on Wednesday before entertaining Gaston on Thursday.

Spring Garden 13, Asbury 0

ALBERTVILLE – Bree Blevins tossed a no-hitter Tuesday as the second-ranked Spring Garden Lady Panthers defeated Asbury 13-0 in Albertville.

Blevins faced 15 batters in the win. She struck out 12.

Spring Garden (9-4, 6-0 Class 1A, Area 12) hosts Asbury on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Baseball

Sand Rock 13, Geraldine 3

GERALDINE – Sand Rock junior Dylan Langley went 3 for 4 with five RBI and a run to lead the Wildcats past Class 2A, Area 12 rival Geraldine 13-3 on Tuesday.

Eighth grader Riley Norris had a perfect day at the plate for the Wildcats (7-8, 1-2). He went 4 for 4 with two RBI and a run. Drew Norris was 2 for 3 with three runs. Matt Graham went 1 for 2 with a run and two RBI. Cody Beck was 2 for 4 with a run and a RBI.

Austin Carver also had one hit and scored a pair of runs. Trey Boatfield was 1 for 1 with a run. Chad Thompson scored two runs, and Chris Terrell drove in one run and scored another.

Beck also earned the win on the mound, as he and Austin Chambers combined for a five-hitter in the five-inning game. Both pitchers fanned two batters.

Sand Rock hosts Geraldine on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Spring Garden 9, Asbury 0

ALBERTVILLE – Spring Garden senior Jake Scott tossed a complete-game shutout Tuesday, helping the No. 10 Panthers claim a 9-0 victory over Class 1A, Area 12 foe Asbury.

T.J. Brittain led the Panthers (14-9, 6-1) at the plate with three hits, a run and a RBI.

Scott, Cory Anderson, Andrew Maddox, Will Westbrook and Reece Johnson had a hit apiece.

Spring Garden will host Asbury on Thursday in a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Golf

Warriors claim tri-match victory

CENTRE – Cherokee County shot 171 as a team to earn a tri-match golf win over Piedmont and Spring Garden on the Front 9 at the Cherokee County Country Club on Tuesday.

Piedmont shot 197 and Spring Garden tallied 224.

Jake Minnix claimed low medalist for the Warriors (7-3). He shot 37. Trai West shot 42 and Colby Abernathy added a 44. Daniel Miller finished at 48.

Dustin Kerr led Spring Garden with a 44.

Junior Varsity Softball

Cherokee County 1, Hokes Bluff 0

CENTRE – Savannah Kincer hit a walk-off double that scored the game-winning run as Cherokee County needed an extra inning to beat Hokes Bluff 1-0 in junior varsity softball action Tuesday.

Tori Davis got the win for the Warriors (5-1, 3-1 Area 12). She struck out eight, allowed no hits and issued no walks.

Neither team could manage a run through five innings. With a runner, Madison Brannon, on second per playoff tiebreak rules, Davis led off for the Warriors with a double in the sixth inning. Madison scored on Kincer’s double.

Davis went 3 for 3 with two singles and the double. She also stole one base. Kincer went 1 for 3 with the game's only RBI. Chelsea Ray also had one hit for the Warriors.

Cherokee County travels to Jacksonville on Tuesday for another area game.
