Centre Police arrested a Rossville, Ga. man after he apparently broke into the Centre Fire Department building and vandalized the facility Monday evening, May 27.

Arrested, according to reports, was David Edward Harris, 22, who was charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, two counts of breaking and entering and public intoxication.

The incident, reports said, occurred shortly before Centre firefighters were dispatched to a fire on Cherokee County Road 24 around 9 p.m.

Centre Fire Chief Kevin Ware said Harris entered the building by prying open a back door. Once inside, he damaged a microwave oven, took several knives from the kitchen area and damaged the walls of the building.

Harris apparently called 911 himself and was arrested a short time later, according to reports.

Damage estimates are around $350, reports said.
