Driftwood Campground will be the host site and there will be a paddle trip each day to different parts of Weiss Lake. Three float trips are planned—Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday’s trip will be from Camp up to the mouth of Little River and back. Saturday’s trip will be about 15 miles, putting in at Gaylesville on the Chattooga. Participants will stop to view historic Cornwall Furnace, a pre-civil-war iron factory, and then make their way back to camp. Sunday’s shorter trip will be a run up to the waterfalls on Yellow Creek and back.
Saturday evening a catered meal and entertainment will be provided. Participants will furnish their own food for all other meals. Participants must have a flat-water appropriate boat, life jacket and a spare paddle. A list of other items to bring can be found online at www.alabamascenicrivertrail.com.
