The Spring Garden Volunteer Fire Department was the recent recipient of a $39,000 Homeland Security Grant.

U. S. Senator Richard Shelby, a senior member of the Senat Appropriations Committee, announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release the funds to the Spring Garden Department, according to reports.

The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program and, the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency, who awarded these funds as part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
