Girls

Cherokee County 43, Chattooga, Ga. 31 – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors clinched a berth in the tournament finals with the win over Chattooga on Monday.

The Lady Warriors (7-6) will play Glencoe for the girls Cherokee Invitational title on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Against Chattooga, Deidra Davis scored a game-high 15 points. She also had two assists. Kaitlyn Griffith added nine points, two steals and two assists. Candace Blanchard pulled down 10 boards and also had two assists. Tori Davis finished with five points.

Chattooga was led by Jordan Stewart’s 10 points. Coranda Hays finished with six points.

Cherokee County built a 20-12 lead at the half before the Lady Indians cut the score to 26-21 at the end of three quarters. The Lady Warriors went on a 17-10 run in the fourth for the final.

Chattooga drops to the consolation bracket where it will meet Cedar Bluff at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Sand Rock 40, Collinsville 37 – Sand Rock trailed after three quarters, but free throws down the stretch helped give the Lady Wildcats a 40-37 win over Collinsville on Monday.

Amber Henderson led Sand Rock (8-8) with 11 points and four assists. Lauren Bell and Carrie Robertson both netted eight points, with Robertson also coming away with seven rebounds. Tessa Pendergrass finished with seven points.

Robertson, Henderson and Lana Bell all went 3-of-4 at the free-throw line down the stretch to help seal the win.

Collinsville (7-4) was led by Breanna Bowen’s 12 points. Alisha Bowen netted 10 points and Jasmine Williams finished with eight points.

Sand Rock will play Jacksonville Christian on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the consolation bracket.

Jacksonville Christian 72, Gaylesville 52 – Jacksonville Christian point guard Katy Miller scored a game-high 32 points to lead the Thunder to the win.

Kandace Postell added 18 points for Jacksonville Christian. Amber Satcher netted 12 points and Chelsea Smith came away with six points.

Gaylesville (4-8) got a 21-point outing from Krysta Nichols. Amber Moseley and Olivia Matthews both finished with six points. Kacie James, Kaitlyn Hammett and Crystal Seay all had five points for the Lady Trojans.

Gaylesville led 19-16 at the end of the first quarter and trailed 34-32 at the half. Jacksonville Christian then went on a 25-9 run in the third to lead 57-41 heading into the final quarter.



Boys

Sand Rock 69, Gaylesville 44 – Justin Mackey netted 22 points to lead Sand Rock past Gaylesville on Monday.

Brannon Burt added 16 points for the Wildcats (7-5). Matt Graham came away with eight points and Cliff Bailey had six points.

Nick Reed scored 20 points for the Trojans (0-12). Cain Higgins added nine points and Luke Murphy finished with five points.

Sand Rock led throughout. The Wildcats held a 16-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 30-12 at the break. Sand Rock led 54-27 at the end of three quarters.

Sand Rock will play Collinsville in the boys consolation bracket at 4:30 p.m.

Chattooga, Ga. 73, Glencoe 53 – In the final game of the night at the Cherokee County Invitational, Chattooga defeated the Glencoe Yellow Jackets 73-53.

Nic Perry led the way for the Indians. He scored a game-high 18 points.

Glencoe (5-11) was led by Brock Kirby’s 15 points. Jett Parker added nine points and 15 rebounds.

Chattooga will play Piedmont in the tournament finals at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Glencoe drops to the consolation bracket and will face Cherokee County at 1:30 p.m.
