The Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame committee has selected four influential individuals in the area to represent its class of 2008. Those four are former Cherokee County baseball coach Bobby Beckett, former Sand Rock and Jacksonville State University basketball player Earl Cleland, former Spring Garden basketball player Tim Cronan and former Cherokee County basketball player Michael Stimpson.
The class of 2008 will be formally inducted into the Cherokee County Hall of Fame on July 26 at 6 p.m. at the ROC in Centre.
Family, friends, teammates and former players of the inductees are invited to attend. Admission is $20 and includes dinner.
