In the 25-5, 25-11 win over Glencoe, Griffith had eight kills and two blocks. Lauren Millsaps added five kills and Allyson Curry came away with 17 assists. Candace Blanchard and Cayla Machleit both finished with seven digs for the Lady Warriors (2-0).
In the 25-19, 25-13 victory over Hokes Bluff, Griffith posted seven kills, while Millsaps had four kills and three blocks. Blanchard came away with four kills.
Curry added 16 assists and three blocks. Machleit finished with 11 digs.
“The girls were focused and ready to play,” Lady Warrior coach Amy Barnes said. “These two wins are a great way to start a new season.”
Cherokee County’s next match is Monday at Pell City beginning at 5 p.m.
Cedar Bluff falls to Boaz, Douglas in volleyball season opener
DOUGLAS – The Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers also opened their volleyball season on Thursday, but fell to Boaz and Douglas.
In the 25-16, 25-9 loss to Boaz, Audrianna Hargitt collected five kills and had eight digs. Candria Dupree added three kills and five digs.
Lauren Barnett had six digs and Brooke Wood finished with six assists.
In the 25-21, 25-20 loss to Douglas, Hargitt led the way with seven kills and four digs. Dupree added three kills and nine digs. Hannah Leach came away with a pair of kills, a pair of digs and an ace. Wood had five assists and Raveen McElrath finished with three assists.
Cedar Bluff (0-2) travels to Jacksonville Christian on Monday for a 5 p.m. match.
